that’s not me.

as metaphorical as it is, we all do use them at some level.
to talk to our superiors, to interact with a person we don’t respect, to hide fear, to try to fit in. as long as we live trying to please everyone, we will need to adapt to feel less, to be fake, to avoid and be avoided.

luna had to use one that felt like it was made of heavy metal. she needed to use it with her groups, she needed to use it with her instructors, she needed to use it with her parents. nothing was enough. no matter how heavy the mask got or how much it covered her - it was suffocating and she couldn't take it off anymore.

in the end it doesn't matter which one we use. people can see behind it, and some people can even try to hurt you even while you use it. it’s not even worth it most of the time and we regret not saying something different or acting like we wanted. how many times has it happened to you, i wonder?

[ ‘daemon: lost in communication’ is a collection of moments in luna’s life marked with the emotion of a thousand lives. even if she is distant and in another place, you’ll find that emotions are timeless and no living being will live without this experience. we can only wish the good ones outdone the bad ones. come with me and float in this space where emotion is the only thing guiding us. ]
